Softball baserunning drills include everything from leading off the bases, to rounding bases, getting out of the batters box and sliding. People sometimes forget the importance of skills such as getting out of the batter box for example. This timing is critical in the race to first base against the ball coming from the infielder. Some drills don’t even need bases, all you need is a stopwatch and a line to start from. You can even practice baserunning before games if you have players come earlier for the warm up. Modify the drills to accommodate your team needs and then keep track of their progress.
