The Advanced Softball Fundamentals Practice is an important part of developing young and or inexperienced teams. This can also be very useful for solidifying fundamental skills through the season.
Advanced Softball Fundamentals Practice
Plan3:00 – 3:10 Warm Up
– Jog for 5 minutes / dynamic stretching
3:10 – 3:30 Throwing / Fielding Charging Set up cones as where I want them to pick up the ball. Play begins when the coach hits the ball and the player must field the ball before it passes the cone. Set up an infield distance, an outfield distance, a regular ground ball line and a one hander line – rotate. Offense:3:30 – 4:20 Baserunning
Baserunning Situation 2 staggared lines and the coach in the pitchers circle, when she says go or indicates to go both players take off, one runs through 1st base and the other goes to 2nd. They stay there. The next run the runners on base move to 2nd and home. Coaches may change up the running sequence. Lead Off pitcher, catcher and 1st and SS on the field, the rest of the team lines up at 1st base as baserunners. The pitcher pitches and the runners take a lead, they either attempt to steal on the pick off attempt or get back to the base. Steal Pitcher, Catcher and SS in their positions. Head down straight out steal on the pitch, catcher attempts to get them out at 2nd base. 1st and 3rd Split into 2 teams, offensive team starts with a runner on 1st and 3rd, the runner gets 3 pitches to steal 2nd base, if she makes it she gets 1 point and if the runner at 3rd scores she gets 3 points. If the defensive team gets an out and keeps the other runner at their base they get 2 points. 4:20 – 4:30 Break Deffense:4:30 – 5:10 Deffensive Plays
5:10 – 6:00 Batting / Bunting
